Qigong for Balance, Stability, and Energy Flow

What is Qigong?

* Qigong, pronounced “chee gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. Qigong has both psychological and physical benefits and can improve the mind-body connection. It uses gentle exercises that can improve the body’s energy flow to find greater health and wellness.

* Qigong is similar to Tai Chi and consists of slow, fluid movements. The simplicity and repetition of movements can make it easier to learn than similar forms of exercise. Qigong can help increase balance and stability in both moments of stillness and movement.

Is Qigong right for me?

* Adults (18+) of any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, religion, or opinion are welcome.

* Qigong is great for students who are new to movement classes and those who are seasoned at group fitness. It is excellent for people of all abilities and can be done both seated and standing. No two people are alike, so we will work to find the easiest and safest ways for you to move and modifications will be presented in each class.

*Qigong can help you find your center of gravity as your body changes. These classes are designed to be appropriate for those who are pregnant and postpartum and are also open to all members of the community, so bring your friends and family, too! This class is for adults only, so please have any children stay at home.

What can I expect in class?

* Classes include warm-up, practice, and cool-down segments. About 45 minutes of the class will be focused on movement and 15 minutes will be for discussion and focusing on our breath. Qigong is a form of moving meditation, so it is excellent if you find meditating in stillness challenging.

* Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Qigong may be done in shoes, socks, or bare feet. Yoga mats are encouraged, and some will be available to borrow at the studio. Chairs will be provided.

Meet Anne:

Hi, I’m Anne! I am the owner of Return to Center Wellness. I was certified as a Group Fitness Instructor in 2024 and specialize in teaching Qigong and dance. I am passionate about sharing my unique perspective on the benefits that mindful movement can bring into our lives.

I struggled with chronic physical and mental health conditions for much of my adult life. I started studying Qigong in 2021 as part of a chronic pain management program, and I found my life finally moving in a new direction. I now have newfound health that allows me the ability to share my form of gentle movement with others.

I believe that we never stop learning and value everything my students teach me, too. I strive to have the classes I provide benefit our spirits as much as our bodies and minds. Let’s keep moving together!
